You do not need a car to get through the day here. Jan Thiel Beach is about five minutes on foot, and the beach clubs, beach restaurants and dive schools are on that same stretch of sand.
A supermarket is a few minutes away for breakfast things, water and a bottle of wine — useful, because shops on Curaçao are further apart than most visitors expect.

Getting here from Hato airport
Curaçao International Airport (Hato) is on the north side of the island; Jan Thiel is on the south. The drive takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
There is no Uber on Curaçao. Your options are an official taxi from the stand outside arrivals — fixed rates, so agree the fare before you get in — a rental car picked up at the airport, or a transfer arranged in advance.
